With almost fifteen years of ministry behind her, Evangelist Vandalyn Kennedy today is a leading voice in proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world through her preaching, teaching and music ministry. A highly sought-after conference speaker, Vandalyn has impacted the body of Christ internationally by preaching the unadulterated gospel of Jesus Christ with boldness and power. She is known for preaching God’s Word in a fiery, practical and revelatory way that always unveils God’s purpose for the lives of his people.
Although her ministry is for the body of Christ at large, Vandalyn has always had a passion for mentoring young people and currently serves as Youth Pastor of Mount Sinai Cathedral Church of God in Christ of Brooklyn, NY under the leadership of Pastor Clarence L. Sexton Jr. In this role, she has developed numerous programs such as P.H.A.T Friday Bible Studies, Abstinence Training, S.W.A.T./Outreach & Witnessing along with Education & Scholarship programs just to name a few. Vandalyn has a desire to see young people enabled and empowered to reach their God created destiny, by helping them to develop a maturing relationship with Jesus Christ. She believes that youth ministry encompasses a holistic approach, addressing the physical, social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual well being of young people and it is by this means that God is continually transforming and revolutionizing the lives of those within the Joshua Generation Youth Ministry and abroad.
Although preaching is the heart of her ministry, music is certainly a close second. Vandalyn is an anointed psalmist who has been singing publicly since the age of three. For many years she served as Minister of Music for her local church, directed the Columbia University Gospel Choir, and sang background for some of Gospel music’s most noted artists such as Ms. Kim Burrell, Rev. Timothy Wright, Pastor Donnie McClurkin and Dr. Judith McAllister. In addition, she has worked with countless choirs and groups as a vocal trainer/guest clinician/directress/soloist as well as being featured on 7 professional recordings as a guest soloist and performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, college campuses such as Yale, Princeton, and West Point, and businesses such as American Express. She continues to sing professionally as she works on her demo project, scheduled to be released next year. Through managing and promoting numerous Gospel concerts, Vandalyn has filled auditoriums, churches and concert halls with people who come to enjoy some of the most well-renowned gospel artists. Additionally, she served for over ten years as the Minister of Music for the Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of Eastern New York COGIC. She currently serves as a Vice President of the ENY Third Jurisdiction Music Dept, and works with the National COGIC Music Dept. conducting workshops and serving as a Worship Leader. In 2009, Dr. Judith Christie McAllister, International Music Department President for the Church of God in Christ Incorporated appointed Evangelist Kennedy as the Dean of Education for the International Music Department.
After graduating from high school at the tender age of sixteen, Evangelist Kennedy went to Sarah Lawrence College where she earned a Bachelor and Masters Degree; as well as a second Masters degree from Columbia University. She has worked as a teacher and in varying capacities within the New York City Department of Education. Vandalyn has also worked as an adjunct professor at various institutions in New York City. Recently, she was admitted into Columbia University’s Union Theological Seminary, to pursue a Master of Divinity degree leading to a Doctorate of Ministry degree. Vandalyn has traveled extensively and has also studied abroad in several cities in Spain. She loves to speak Spanish and is quite conversant in the language.
With all of these accomplishments, Vandalyn wholly gives all credit and honor to God; and acknowledges that it is the saving of souls and changing of lives that is the focal point of her ministry. Above all, her fervent desire is to see the people of God come to know Him in a greater way; as well as to lead those who do not know Him into right relationship with Him. Today, her ultimate goal is to fulfill the purpose of God for her life as she continues to serve as a preacher, teacher, psalmist and author submitting her life to the power of God that is able to transform lives and set the captive free. She knows that this can only be accomplished through a life of prayer and consecration unto God.
Vandalyn’s life is one that is fueled by prayer and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that she has been anointed to declare His word; and this anointing has been recognized as simply put, unique.
From Pennsylvania to Panama, countless numbers have been touched by the message of faith and God's love through the ministry, the servant, and the vessel…Evangelist Vandalyn J. Kennedy.
